BJYM, AIYF activists protest against the job calendar

Activists from the All India Youth Federation, led by Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha and the CPI, held separate demonstrations here on Friday to protest against the “disappointing” job calendar published by the state government.

Police took 10 BJYM activists into preventive custody, including District President T. Ashok Reddy, when they tried to obstruct Education Minister A. Suresh’s convoy and protested the government’s announcement that only 10,000 jobs would be filled this year .

Police personnel stationed in Prakasam Bhavan after a heated argument brought BJYM activists to the police station. The activists were arrested for violating applicable bans, said the deputy police chief of Ongole KVVNV Prasad.

President Lakshma Reddy, who led the AIYF protest, said the YSRCP government should publish a revised job calendar to fill over 2.35 lakh positions in various government departments. The meager number of vacancies announced by the state government came as a shock to the unemployed youth who were preparing hard for the pre-exam, said AIYF District Secretary Ramanjaneyulu.
