The e-passport must be used for travel during curfew in the state, police say

The state police have asked the public to plan interstate trips in accordance with curfews set in the state and in neighboring states.

Amid concerns about the issuance of an electronic passport for interstate travel, the Office of the Director-General of Police said there would be no restrictions on interstate travel and intra-state travel between 6 a.m. and 12 noon during curfew. However, if you have to travel within the state or cross borders during the curfew (12:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m.), identification should be obtained from the respective state.

The State Police electronic passport can be obtained at appolice.gov.in, and similar passports from other states can be obtained online through their respective websites.

The press release said the governments of Telangana, Tamil Nadu and Odisha made the e-passport mandatory for people arriving around the clock.

As Karnataka did not yet have an e-passport system, the AP police will issue passports for that state as well, but the decision of the Karnataka government is final.
