AP and TS governments are playing with people’s lives, Atchannaidu says

Telugu Desam Party (TDP) President K. Atchannaidu condemned the Lathicharge against people trying to cross the interstate border at the Pondugula checkpoint by Telangana police, claiming that the Andhra Pradesh government was not doing enough to to solve the problem.

In a statement on Sunday, the TDP leader said Telangana police will not allow vehicles to cross over to the other side and threaten vehicle users if they try to do so. “The Lathicharge for road users by Telangana police at the Pondugula checkpoint is highly condemnable,” he said.

He strongly opposed the Andhra Pradesh government for failing to take immediate steps to resolve the problems of patients from the state who have been prevented from entering Telangana for treatment.

“The Prime Ministers of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana are playing with people’s lives at a time when the pandemic is driving them into immeasurable misery. Prime Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy behaves as if these border issues are not his concern. Isn’t Telangana a part of India? Why are people in Andhra Pradesh denied entry to the neighboring state? he asked.

The TDP leader asked how the Andhra Pradesh government would react if Telangana officials stopped a YSRCP-MLA or a minister at the borders. “Andhra Pradesh officials do not speak to their counterparts in Telangana when such unpleasant incidents occur,” he said.
