Telangana should provide humanitarian access to medical care for COVID-19 patients: Sajjala

Telangana’s government should allow ambulances to transport COVID-19 patients from Andhra Pradesh to Hyderabad on humanitarian grounds, Sajjala Ramakrishna Reddy, advisor (Public Affais), said on Friday.

Prime Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy had spoken to his Telangana counterpart K. Chandrasekhar Rao to resolve the issue, Ramakrishna Reddy told the media here.

“A neighboring state should turn to other states at the hour of crisis. It is unfortunate that the Telangana government is even restricting ambulances and insisting on hospital letters and IDs, which is not possible in the current situation. It is common for people to move to larger cities where they have access to better medical infrastructure. Hyderabad has many super specialty hospitals. As a neighboring state, Telangana should deal with humanity, ”said Ramakrishna Reddy.

“Andhra Pradesh patients wanted to treat Chennai and Bengaluru better. However, problems only arise on the border with Telangana, ”he stated.

Dig in Naidu

Regarding the AP reorganization law, he said Andhra Pradesh did not get tier 1 cities or the best medical infrastructure after the fork.

The previous government had wasted five years failing to develop infrastructure in a single city. If the former Prime Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu had built at least one super specialty hospital during his tenure, the people of Andhra Pradesh would not have faced these hurdles, he said.

“The state government has worked tirelessly to contain the spread of COVID-19, provide better medical facilities, vaccinate people and ensure that there are no errors in the provision of welfare systems during the pandemic,” said Ramakrishna Reddy.

The state government had spent £ 5,000 million treating COVID-19 patients. In the past 23 months, the government has deposited 89,000 crore directly into beneficiaries’ bank accounts through various schemes, he said.

He accused the TDP of deliberately spreading rumors against the government in order to instill panic among the people.
