Chandanotsavam in virtual mode nets £ 15.45 lakh

Donations to be accepted during the next three rounds of the Chandanam offering to the deity this year

Notwithstanding the celebration of Chandanotsavam in virtual mode in light of the pandemic situation, the hundreds of collections in the temple of Sri Varaha Lakshmi Naraismha Swamy in Simhachalam totaled £ 15.45 that day.

The temple’s largest festival during the year attracts thousands of devotees every year. This year it took place on May 14th with no followers given the surge in the second wave in COVID-19.

However, the followers sent their offers online. A total of 338 devotees offered £ 1,116 each to recite their ‘Gothram’ before the deity (total £ 4.33 lakh). Their ‘Gothras’ and names were recited that day before the ‘Nijarupam’. The event was broadcast live. A total of 56 followers offered half a kg of sandalwood paste at £ 10,116 each (5.66 lakh total), and 22 followers offered 1 kg of Chandanam or £ 20,116 each (4.42 lakh total). An additional £ 1.03 lakh was raised through online donations.

Chandanam and Sesha Vastram will be sent to devotees who have donated one kg of Chandanam, and Chandanam will be sent to other eligible devotees at the address they sent in a few days.

Authorities must decide to accept donations during the next three rounds of the Chandanam offering to the deity this year. The supply of sandalwood is unlimited. Those who send the donations should take a screenshot and ‘Gothra Namas’ to the WhatsApp no. 6303800736. You can call the same number if you have any further questions.
