After the first round of by-elections in the constituency of Tirupati (SC) Lok Sabha, the ruling YSR congress established a clear lead of over 14,000 votes.
YSRC candidate M Gurumurthy approved 28,547 votes, while Panabaka Lakshmi of the TDP received 14,451 votes in the first round, according to the electoral commission on Sunday.
BJP candidate K Ratna Prabha, a retired IAS commissioner, administered 2,300 votes, while the Chinta Mohan of Congress received 375 votes.
The by-election to the seat of Tirupati Lok Sabha on April 17 was made necessary by the death of the YSRC’s Balli Durgaprasad in September 2020.
