Veerraju is asking the state to allocate 2,000 crore for COVID-19 mitigation

‘Government. couldn’t review Remdesivir’s black marketing ‘

BJP President Somu Veerraju has asked the state government to allocate 2,000 crore to contain COVID-19.

Speaking to the media here on Thursday along with the party’s general secretary S. Vishnuvardhan Reddy, Mr Veerraju said the results of the COVID-19 tests should be announced on the same day that the sample is taken.

Rapid test results would also be of great help to the government in fighting the pandemic, which proved more deadly in its second wave, he said.

Mr Veerraju also said the government should also focus on figuring out the factors behind the virus that pose a high risk for young adults.

He said that an oxygen plant could be built at a cost of £ 30 and that funding should not be a constraint as the central government provided thousands of millions of rupees through urban and rural health missions.

Mr Veerraju alleged that despite the commitment of the Union government to fight the pandemic, the opposition parties were spreading misinformation on social media.

The BJP, in turn, provided various services to the needy, he added.

‘Postpone Exams’

Mr Veerraju went on to say that the government should not be persistent in conducting the SSC and mid-term exams once the second wave hit the country.

The BJP had written to the prime minister to demand postponement of examinations and tough action against private hospitals that exploit patients.

Although health is a government issue, the center has done everything it can to mitigate the effects of COVID-19, he said.

On the contrary, the state government has failed to curb the black marketing of remdesivir injections, which were sold at exorbitant costs, he claimed. The infrastructure in hospitals is so pathetic that two patients can be placed in a single bed, he added.

Mr Veerraju said the central government has so far provided the state with 65 lakh vaccines and is working to ensure adequate and uninterrupted oxygenation.
