Ten more die than 1,600 test positive South Coastal AP

The coronavirus continues to take its toll on the south coast of Andhra Pradesh as 10 more patients died and 1,600 people tested positive within 24 hours.

The number of victims in the area rose to 1,189 when seven patients in Nellore district and three more in Praksam district ended in the 24 hours that ended at 9 a.m. on Sunday. This emerges from a health bulletin published by the state government. This means that 579 patients in the Nellore district and 610 patients in Prakasam have lost the fight against the virus so far.

Health infrastructure performance was put to the test when the number of active cases hit a new high of 12,299. In the past 24 hours, 1,258 people in Nellore district and 353 in Prakasam district became infected with the infection. This increased the cumulative balance in the region to 1.42,691.

The number of new cases was more than 1,100 higher compared to recoveries in the region during the reporting period. As a result, the recovery rate, which was over 99% at the beginning of the month, dropped to 90.54%. In the past 24 hours, 248 patients in the Prakasam district and an additional 208 patients in the Nellore district have recovered from the disease.

Received 60,000 doses of vaccine

Thanks to the center’s replenishment of vaccine supplies, health officials have adjusted to giving the second dose to anyone who took the first dose as of Monday. Health officials in the two counties were given approximately 60,000 doses of vaccine, health officials said.

“Everyone over the age of 18 should compel their names on the Co-Win Vaccines app,” said R. Swarnalatha, Nellore District Medical and Health Officer, adding that 91 meeting venues have been set up for the third phase Drive vaccination.

“No oxygen starvation”

“There is no shortage of beds with oxygen facilities,” said Prakasam DMHO P. Ratnavalli, adding that the oxygen bed strength has been increased to treat patients.

Up to 827 patients have been allocated beds with oxygen facilities, and an additional 368 such beds are available in the district’s 21 designated COVID-19 hospitals, she said, a day after dozens of patients in need of oxygen were treated with temporary oxygen bottles at the reception center Government General Hospital established in Ongole.

Bed availability

The bed availability status posted online by the district administration on Sunday revealed that 1,337 of the 1,876 beds in the COVID-19 hospitals, including 17 private ones, were occupied. 147 beds including 65 oxygen beds were available at GGH, as only 979 beds, including 620 oxygen beds of the total of 1,126, were occupied.
