Mayor Kavati Manohar Naidu said Tuesday that a night curfew would be imposed in the city of Guntur from April 25. The decision was made in light of the steep rise in COVID-19 cases.
Mr. Manohar Naidu, who had called a meeting with Community Commissioner C. Anuradha and Police Superintendent RN Ammireddy, said that passenger traffic would be restricted from 7:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. from April 25th.
The restrictions on commercial establishments and businesses would remain. Shops have been asked to close at 6 p.m. every day, he said.
Mr Ammireddy said the police would enforce the curfew for the night and asked people to stay inside after 7pm. Ms. Anuradha said the GMC has already closed all parks, stadiums and open gyms.
