A sustained campaign is being carried out nationwide to mobilize support from all segments of society, including farmers and workers, to protest against the policies of the BJP-led central government, All India Kisan Sangharsh Coordination Committee (AIKSCC) State Congress Vadde Sobhanadreeswara Rao has said.
As part of the campaign, a farmer’s mahapanchayat is being organized on April 19 on the grounds of the ABM College in Ongole to urge, among other things, the repeal of the three agricultural laws, legal support for the minimum support price (MSP) and the abolition of the electricity law (Change) with which the subsidies should expire.
The spokesman for the Bharatiya Kisan Union, Rakesh Tikiat, the national president of All India Kisan Sabha (AIKS), Ashok Dhawle, and other peasant leaders, who led the excitement, would put farmers, workers and other populations on a protracted battle against the “business-friendly “Prepare economic policy from the BJP-led NDA government, said the former Agriculture Minister.
Similar “mahapanchayats” are being organized in different parts of the country to pressure the center to abandon “suicide economic policies,” said Sobhandreswara Rao.
“The three farm laws will exacerbate the overthrow of the Narendra Modi government, which is relentless to implement them against the will of farmers,” he said, adding that nothing less than the repeal of the three farm laws is acceptable.
Agricultural subsidy
At a time when the US and other developed countries are heavily subsidizing the agricultural sector, the NDA government is stopping subsidies and removing the safety cushions like market intervention when agricultural product prices fall.
“Agriculture will only be profitable if the government implements the recommendations of the National Farmers’ Commission, led by noted agronomist MS Swaminathan,” he said.
The samyukt Kisan Morcha has decided to spread the movement by rappelling in different sections of society affected by the “bad economic measures” initiated by the NDA government, said Ravula Venkaiah, national vice president of All India Kisan Sabha .
