The state hit a new milestone when more than a fifth of the population received at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine when a record 13 lakh doses were given on Sunday.
Across the country, only 28:34,204 doses were given by 8 p.m., and 47% of those were in Andhra Pradesh alone, according to the Cowin portal.
The state set a record for the administration of 6.2 lakh doses in a single day on April 14th. A target of 10 lakh doses was set on Sunday, but it was exceeded by 8 p.m., even though a total of 13.26.271 doses were administered during the mega vaccination campaign.
That brings a total of 1,38,81,386 doses to the state, and 1.11 million people received at least one dose and 27.35 million people fully vaccinated, in the state since Jan. 16. About 84.10 lakh people are supposed to receive the second dose.
Women take the lead
Of the 1.11 crore who received at least one dose of the vaccine, 53.97% were women and 46% were men and 1,762 belonged to the other categories as mentioned in the portal.
Of the 1.38 crore administered doses, Covishield accounted for 1.16 crore, Covaxin for 22.62 lakh and Sputnik for 5,555.
Among those aged 45-60, 55.74 lakhs received at least one dose and those aged 60+ received 31.51 lakhs. In the 18-44 age group, 25.18 lakhs received at least one dose.
The aim of the campaign was to vaccinate mothers of children under the age of five as well as all persons over the age of 45 and those who are obliged to travel abroad. The beneficiaries were given both the first and second dose.
According to the Ministry of Health, East and West Godavari each received more than 1.5 lakh doses, while in Vizianagaram only more than 58,003 doses were administered from 7 p.m. onwards
The state so far reported 0.003% side effects after vaccinations.
