After four deaths were reported on Monday, South Coastal Andhra Pradesh casualties rose to 1,794 in the last 24 hours through 9 a.m. Tuesday as 10 more people succumbed to the virus.
Double-digit losses were reported again as 10 patients – six in Prakasam district and four in SPSR Nellore district – died of COVID. According to a health bulletin published Tuesday evening by the state government, 901 deaths have been attributed to Prakasam district and 893 to SPSR Nellore district since the pandemic began.
Meanwhile, 593 people, including 357 in the Prakasam district, tested positive for the disease, bringing the cumulative number to over 2.44 lakh in the area, including more than 1.25 lakh in the SPSR Nellore district.
688 restores
The number of recoveries in the region exceeded the number of new cases by 95 during the reporting period, as 688 patients, including 430 in the Prakasam district, were declared recovered.
Current cases
That brought active cases in the region to just over 9,000, with Nellore accounting for 3,712 and Prakasam accounting for 5,290.
The recovery rate continued to improve in the two districts, reaching 95.57%, as over 2.33 lakh patients, including more than 1.12 lakh in Prakasam district, recovered.
