Two people died Tuesday in an exchange of fire in the Pulivendula constituency of Kadapa district, allegedly over property dispute.
Parthasarathy Reddy (48) had a protracted property dispute with his relative Prasad Reddy (62). Both families have reportedly been involved in open brawls in the past as a result of the argument. The problem took a serious turn early Tuesday when Parthasarathy Reddy, who harbored a grudge, pounced on Prasad Reddy with a knife in the village of Nallapureddypalle. Prasad Reddy shot him with his licensed pistol, killing him on the spot. Immediately after the incident, Prasad Reddy is also said to have shot himself.
Pulivendula police rushed to the village and opened an investigation. The bodies were removed from the site and taken for an autopsy.
