LHS work completed in record time

In a record time of just four hours, a Limited Height Subway (LHS) was installed between the Nellimarla and Garividi stations in the Visakhapatnam-Palasa section of the Waltair Division of the East Coast Railway.

As part of the LHS work, heavy machinery with six heavy-duty excavators and three heavy-duty cranes as well as contract staff were used to place the 10 segments in the cutting and covering process.

With the help of cranes, the track was dismantled and earthworks began on both sides. Floor slabs and prefabricated boxes were placed with heavy-duty cranes, according to the Senior Divisional Commercial Manager AK Tripathi.

The earthworks to start laying the boxes took one hour and the laying of 10 boxes took two hours. The block was completed in four hours under the supervision of Senior Divisional Engineer Pradeep Yadav and Senior Divisional Engineer (East) Rajiv Kumar under the direction of Divisional Railway Manager, Waltair, Chetan Kumar Shrivastava.
