The distribution of a herbal preparation by Ayurveda practitioner B. Anandaiah was carried out at a brisk pace on Tuesday on the south coast of Andhra Pradesh.
Krishnapatnam’s herbal supplement is claimed to boost immunity and help keep COVID-19 at bay. Huge crowds had flocked to the village to get their hands on it before the government halted distribution until the center gave the green light to the brew after several checks.
Following the intervention of the High Court on the matter, the state government allowed four variants of the preparation to be disseminated to the public. However, an eye drop variant has not been approved as experts have yet to fully investigate its safety.
A network of volunteers has completed the free distribution of the herbal preparation to the people in the Sarvepalli congregation segment, said Kakani Govardhan Reddy, president of the YSRCP Nellore district unit. The preparation was also distributed by volunteers in different parts of the city of Nellore.
In Ongole, people waited in long lines to get at least a few packets of the mixture, including the immunity booster variant, at a medical camp organized under strict security by YSRCP MP Magunta Srinivasulu Reddy and his son M. Raghava Reddy has been. The same would be distributed across the constituency of Ongole Lok Sabha to make it “corona free,” said Raghava Reddy.
“We planned to provide Mr. Anandaiah’s preparation for 20 lakh people in the Prakasam district,” added Mr. Raghava Reddy while overseeing the MP’s supporters’ arrangements for the distribution on the PVR Municipal Boys High School grounds ensure COVID-19 security logs have been followed. Large numbers of people waiting in line returned disappointed as only 5,000 packages were provided by Krishnapatnam.
At the same time, many people flocked to the residence of Energy Minister Balineni Srinivasa Reddy, where the Mayor of Ongole, Gangada Sujatha, organized the distribution of the herbal recipe.
“We were able to distribute almost 5,000 parcels on Thursday. More packages will be arranged in the coming days, ”said YSRCP Mayor Singaraju Venkat Rao.
