The state government has drawn up plans to expand drip irrigation to one and a half lakh acres with a spending of 1,190.11 billion yen in 2021-22.
Agriculture Minister K. Kannababu, along with Ministers K. Venkateshwara Rao (Civil Welfare) and M. Sankarnarayana (BC Welfare), held a review meeting on Thursday to discuss the procurement and purchase of various crops.
Mr. Kannababu said the government plans to give a 90% subsidy to farmers who do micro-irrigation who own two hectares of land.
In the Rayalaseema region, farmers who farm four hectares would receive a 70% subsidy and 50% subsidy for those who own five hectares in the Prakasam district. There would be 50% subsidies in the coastal districts, he added.
Officials said 45 lakh tons is the target for paddy procurement in 2020-21. So far, 25.25,927 tons have been sourced by 3,78,206 farmers, they added. The procurement was valued at 4,728.81 billion.
The minister said farmers would have to register their names in E-Panta. The government would buy every grain they produce, he said.
