A record 3,851 patients recovered from coronavirus infection, while the number fell to just under 900 in a day on the south coast of Andhra Pradesh in 24 hours.
Attributing the decline in new infections to the partial curfew, Nellore Collector KVNChakradhar Rao said the test-trace-track vaccination strategy had paid off.
Prakasam district recorded zero deaths for the first time during the second wave of coronavirus. However, one patient succumbed to an infection in the Nellore district in the last 24 hours that ended at 9 a.m. on Thursday. The number rose to 1,709 in the region, with Nellore district responsible for 869 deaths and Prakasam responsible for 840 deaths, according to a health bulletin published Thursday night by the state government.
Active cases decrease
The cumulative number rose slightly to over 2.35 lakh as 600 patients tested positive in Prakasam and another 280 in Nellore during the reporting period. Health workers breathed a sigh of relief as the number of active cases fell below the 18,000 mark.
The makeshift German coat hangers that were set up with an oxygen system in Ongole had an abandoned appearance as the number of recoveries exceeded the daily number by 2,971, easing pressure on health infrastructure.
In the Prakasam district, up to 3,851 patients recovered while Nellore had a daily recovery rate of 872. The recoveries have passed the 2.16 lakh mark. So far, 1,13,315 patients in Nellore district and an additional 1,02,945 patients in Prakasam district have won the fight against the virus.
Meanwhile, during the partial curfew until June 20, Mr. Chakradhar Babu issued an order extending the prohibition orders under Section 144 of the CrPc. He urged people to follow COVID-appropriate behavior.
Meanwhile, Tata Chemicals, Mambattu donated 10 oxygen concentrators to the county government as part of corporate social responsibility.
