Well-known environmentalist and Supreme Court attorney MC Mehta said academic institutions should play an active role in protecting the environment and raising public awareness. Mr Mehta, who had filed a case protecting the Taj Mahal and several other environmental issues in the country, gave a foundation lecture on Saturday on behalf of noted environmentalist T. Sivaji Rao, organized by GITAM as a university.
He shares his connection with Prof. Sivaji Rao, Mr. Mehta said that he has benefited greatly from academics to understand the root causes of several environmental problems in the country. He stated that protecting the environment will help us prevent pandemics.
