An employee working with the additional district medical and health officer in Anantapur reportedly committed suicide by jumping from the terrace of the three-story building in the early hours of Wednesday.
A roadside shopkeeper noticed the man, L. Vijay Kumar, lying on the ground and informed the police.
Two Town Circle inspectors S. Jakeer Hussain Khan said, according to CCTV footage from the office, Vijay Kumar jumped out of the building at 4:48 a.m.
Debt burden
Vijay Kumar, 36, who was appointed for compassionate reasons four years ago after his mother’s death while working in the same office, told family members that he could not handle the debt burden, police said. He was paid 25,000 yen a month, had lakhs in debt, and found it difficult to run his family.
