A special task force, led by Joint Collector (Revenue) MN Harendhira Prasad, has been established to accelerate work on the Somasila High Level Canal Project in the SPSR Nellore District.
A corresponding decision was made at a review meeting that Industry Minister Mekapati Goutham Reddy held here on Monday after consulting the district collector KVNCakradhar Babu.
The minister asked Special Collector (Land Acquisition) Nageswara Rao to accelerate the investigation for land acquisition for Phase II of the project.
The minister expressed his dissatisfaction with the delay in the implementation of the project work and set a deadline of 10 June for their start. A notification would be made of any further delays, he said.
He warned officials from the Irrigation Department to speed up sewer works and repairs for 117 billion yen. The meeting was attended by, among others, K. Harinarayana Reddy, chief engineer of Telugu Ganga.
