The state government has decided to start building one-lakh houses and accelerate the program from June 1st.
The houses are being built under the ‘Navaratnalu – Pedalandarik Illlu’ program, which is part of the government’s ambitious plan to build 15.60 lakh houses within one year under Phase 1 of the program.
The government had initiated sanctions proceedings for the construction of 14.89 lakh houses. However, work began on May 27 only for 1.21 lakh houses.
Ministers, MLAs, MPs, community leaders, mayors and sarpanches will be involved in the special.
Housing Minister Ch. Sri Ranganadha Raju says the project directors of Andhra Pradesh State Housing Corporation Limited (APSHCL) have been asked to take action on this.
Ambitious goal
“The government has set itself the goal of completing 10.50 lakh houses by the end of the 2021-22 fiscal year. The aim is to have 15.60 lakh houses completed by June 2022, ”says the minister.
The government has set district targets for APSHCL officials. East and West Divisions of Godavari, Krishna and Chittoor must begin work on 10,000 houses each. The goal for the districts of Guntur and Anantapur is 8,000 houses each. The districts of Kurnool, Kadapa, Srikakulam and Vizianagaram were each commissioned with 7,000 houses. While the Prakasam district has a target of 6,000 houses, Nellore and Visakhapatnam have targets of 5,000 houses each.
At least one layout will be determined in each constituency of the assembly to begin work on June 1, and each layout will have a minimum of 100 units. The maximum number of layouts is set in each district in the first week of June.
Work will begin in relation to all beneficiaries who have their own land / certificates of ownership and sanctioned homes.
The project leaders were asked to motivate the beneficiaries in this regard through the community / village volunteers. Technical assistants / ward secretaries and other relevant officials are involved in the program.
COVID-19 protocol
“Great care is taken to organize the program in accordance with the COVID-19 protocols,” says Raju.
15 lakh houses are built in each phase. Facilities such as drinking water supply, electricity, access roads, internal roads and sewers and other social infrastructure are provided in the colonies.
The government will spend 2.540 billion on water and 3.200 billion on electricity.
