Education Minister Adimulapu Suresh assured representatives of various teachers’ unions on Tuesday that the government would be considerate of their problems and resolve them at the earliest.
Speaking at a video conference with representatives from various teacher unions, he said the YSRCP government has good intentions to develop the education sector and to address the problems of the teaching community.
Union leaders made their demands to insist that teachers be identified as frontline warriors as they worked on health hazards and took immediate steps to rid them of the problems posed by the many apps introduced by the affected authorities caused.
They said the government should announce Ex-Gratia for the teachers who have died of COVID-19 and deal with the issues of promotions and transfers.
They paid tribute to the development of infrastructure facilities in schools as part of the Nadu Nedu program and other reforms and advocated the implementation of board examinations in grade 10.
In response to them, the minister said the video conference was part of the government’s efforts to gain a firsthand understanding of their problems and to initiate efforts to resolve them.
The minister said that along with student lives, the government was equally concerned about the health of teachers and noted that he had appealed to the center to allocate a special vaccine quota for the teaching community.
Nadu-Nedu works
In a separate meeting with the department officials, Mr. Suresh gave them the June 20th deadline to complete the work that had started under the Nadu Nedu program. He wanted officers to ensure that the school kits under the Vidya Kanuka program reached the facilities on time. He said composite walls had been started for 557 schools, 382 of which had been completed and the remainder were in various stages of progress.
On Vidya Kanuka, he said it was planned to start distributing the kits from June 1st to July 3rd. He discussed the curriculum and academic base map of the YSR pre-primary schools.
The main secretary for school education B. Rajasekhar, the state project director of Samagra Shiksha Vetri Selvi, the director for school education V. Chinaveerabhadrudu, and officials from the engineering wing were present.
