Finance Minister Buggana Rajendranath Reddy said Monday that work to build two new oxygen generation plants in the hospitals in Adoni and Nandyal districts had progressed rapidly.

After a briefing meeting with the district officials and the COVID-19 node officers here, Mr Rajendranath said that while the Adoni District Hospital would get its oxygen system up and running within a week, the one at Nandyal Hospital would be up and running in three weeks.
“Asha Workers and ANMs are doing a door-to-door screening of all symptomatic individuals as part of the fever survey, and the number of COVID tests was the highest in the district,” he added.
He appreciated the employees at the front for their dedicated work and admitted that in some positions there was a shortage of doctors and paramedical staff, which were bridged by the temporary admission of new employees. Joint collector S. Ramasundar Reddy also attended the review meeting.
He recognized the gesture from agencies and individuals who contributed their mite by delivering oxygen concentrators, and said people and local MLAs are doing their best to support the COVID patients. Nandyal MP Pocha Bhrahmananda Reddy offered assistance to Udayananda Hospital, which treated numerous patients.
“No gaps in supply”
The government was taking all possible measures to get oxygen from Odisha and Tamil Nadu in addition to Karnataka, as allocated to the state, to ensure there were no supply shortages, the minister added.
The Treasury Secretary also posted a poster of a Helpdesk-181 set up for children orphaned by COVID in the district.
