NHRC notice to State about Ruia incident

The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) has sent a notice to the state government requesting a report on the recent incident at SVR Ruia Government General Hospital in which 11 patients admitted to COVID-19 treatment were reported to have been deprived of oxygen died.

The Commission’s policy was in response to a complaint from former Member of Parliament (Tirupati) Chinta Mohan and another from Jestadi Sudhakar, All India Council for Human Rights Freedoms and Social Justice, Guntur.

“The allegations, if applicable, raise a serious problem of human rights violations,” noted Judiciary Chairman PC Pant, calling for an Action Taken Report (ATR) from the State Secretary of State (Health and Family Welfare).
