Bundles of money found in the alms seeker’s house

TTD Vigilance and Revenue officials were impressed when they found bundles of banknotes in the home of a deceased alms seeker on Monday as they took possession of his home in Seshachala Nagar, on the outskirts.

S. Srinivas used to make a living by begging and sometimes putting ‘namam’ on the foreheads of devotees in Tirumala. He was assigned a house on the outskirts to send residents downhill. Srinivas, who had no family, lived in the house for a decade and recently passed away from a prolonged illness. When TTD authorities took possession of his house, they were surprised to see a huge stack of banknotes valued at £ 6.15. The officers also confiscated some notes hidden in an old suitcase.
