The AP High Court on Sunday ordered the CID to limit the order of Narsapuram MP K. Raghu Ramakrishna Raju, who was arrested on May 14 for allegedly promoting discontent against the government and making hate speech against the VI. Additional Junior Civil Judge for his (the MPs) medical examination at Ramesh Hospital in Guntur to provide treatment if necessary.
The order was made following the submission of a report which the court demanded from the medical association it had formed, which included doctors from the Guntur GGH.
Additional Advocate General P. Sudhakar Reddy, who appeared for the state, claimed the MP was in good health with no injuries allegedly caused during his detention, the Medical Association found.
He also expressed reservations about the referral of Mr. Raju to the Ramesh Hospitals, which he said were implicated in a criminal case that resulted in the deaths of 10 patients in a fire accident at the COVID Care Center he operated in Vijayawada last year was due.
The petitioner’s attorney, B. Adinarayana Rao, said the pre-trial detention issued by the CID court was illegal and asked HC to record his allegation that his client’s life was at risk.
