BJP MP GVL Narasimha Rao took a strong exception from the arrest and alleged violence in custody against MP from Narsapuram, K. Raghu Ramakrishna Raju, a shame against the state government. ‘
Mr Narasimha Rao also expressed doubts as to whether the charges brought against the Narsapuram MP, including that his speeches and actions constituted turmoil, were in line with the relevant guidelines of the Supreme Court. “The claim that the Lok Sabha Secretariat was informed of the MP’s arrest remains to be verified. It is a matter that must be taken up by the protocol committee of the Lok Sabha if the circumstances warrant a verification of the facts, ”the BJP MP told the media on Sunday.
He said the MP was allegedly pulled up by police at the behest of Prime Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, who should remind himself that “this is not the way to silence his critics”. The YSRCP was free to suspend or expel the MP for resorting to anti-partisan activity and making offensive comments against the government, but no disciplinary action was taken, Narasimha Rao said.
The MP was arrested in Hyderabad and taken to Guntur overnight. This appears to be “a deliberate act of revenge,” he added.
