Opposition leader Nara Chandrababu Naidu should understand the scenario the country and state are going through due to the COVID-19 pandemic and stop throwing mud on the state government and focus on constructive work, said Anakapalle MLA Gudivada Amarnath of the YSR Congress Party.
On Saturday, Mr Amarnath spoke here in front of the media that Mr Naidu, as a high-ranking leader who served as prime minister, should give the state government some advice and suggestions, but not indulge in panic among the people with his statements.
He accused Mr. Naidu of failing to raise the issue of stopping state ambulances with Telangana Prime Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao. “As a former prime minister who claims KCR worked under him, Mr. Naidu should have picked up the phone and called him to authorize the ambulances that stopped at the Telangana border. Instead, he decided to keep quiet, ”said Amarnath.
He accused Mr Naidu and other TDP leaders of focusing on other issues such as the arrest of MP Raghurama Krishnam Raju in Narasapuram instead of focusing on the pandemic.
Honoring MP V. Vijaya Sai Reddy for the initiative to open a 300-bed oxygenated hospital in Sheelanagar for COVID patients, Mr Amarnath asked if a TDP leader had proposed such an initiative.
The YSRCP MLA accused Mr. Naidu of having done nothing to develop the health infrastructure in the state. “In TDP’s 21-year rule, not a single hospital or medical college was created. But Mr. Jagan sanctioned eleven medical colleges shortly after he came to power and even Aarogysri was an idea of YS Rajasekhara Reddy, ”he said.
Mr Amarnath also pointed out that oxygenated beds were increased from 27,000 to 45,000 during the second wave and efforts are being made to increase them further.
