The TTD has decided to build temporary sheds with German technology for the benefit of COVID-19 patients in the state.
Beds with oxygen systems are provided in the sheds, which are to be set up at 22 identified locations in different districts.
Funds sanctioned
The program is expected to cost the TTD 3.52 crore approved Thursday by Executive Officer KS Jawahar Reddy of the Sri Venkateswara Sarva Shreya Nidhi Trust.
Each shed is spacious enough for 30 beds.
The TTD recently experimented with similar sheds at its COVID hospital in Sri Padmavati, Tirupati, to accommodate patients who were left unattended in the corridors due to lack of beds.
When the results proved worthwhile, Dr. Reddy, who is also the chairman of the state COVID command control center, made the facility available upon request from various sources.
The TTD will build four sheds in Visakhapatnam, three each in Anantapur, Guntur, Krishna and Kakinada as well as two in the districts of Kurnool and Prakasam as well as two other locations.
The funds are made available to the respective district collectors.
