The Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) have decided to increase the service fees for their Kalyana Mandapam in Visakhapatnam from the current £ 9,440 per day to £ 50,000. The decision was made after TTD started building improvements at a cost of £ 2 billion.
Around 180 to 200 marriages are held annually in the building in a prime location in the city. The building was built in 1991 and houses a wedding hall for 800 people with a dining room, kitchen, party rooms, dormitories with separate rooms for the bride and groom.
The accumulation of kalyana mandapams and community halls in the area has prompted management to begin renovations on the building to meet the demands of the modern public.
The TTD decided to equip its building with central air conditioning, among other things with the improvement of the kitchen, the dining room and the replacement of the furniture. It also transferred funds to the GVMC for work to be carried out.
Although the TTD has increased the service fees for the Kalyana Mandapam, the water fees remain unaffected at £ 100 per day. It was also decided to collect the electrical charges and VAT according to the rates in force.
