“491 tons of oxygen are delivered to hospitals in one day”

Chief Secretary for Health, Medicine and Family Welfare Anil Kumar Singhal said the state’s supply of oxygen to hospitals has increased in recent days, with 491 tons of liquid oxygen being delivered to COVID-19 patients last day.

At a press conference on Saturday, he said that after several requests, the central government had also increased the allocation for the state from 480 tons to 590 tons. He said the state has asked the center to provide more care and also to provide it from factories near the state for easy transportation as the needs of hospitals increase daily.

In addition, the state government has issued tenders for the supply of liquid oxygen and a response is awaited. The state is ready to import oxygen. The 25 state-bought cryotankers will be reached in three weeks, he said.
