Inauguration of the 30-bed COVID hospital for front-line workers

The Minister of Information and Public Relations, Perni Venkataramaiah, inaugurated a 30-bed COVID-19 hospital here on Sunday exclusively for frontline workers.

Police officers, their family members and health, tax and plumbing departments are being treated in the hospital for COVID-19, said police superintendent M. Ravindranath Babu.

“Many frontline fighters are fighting the corona virus and have been serving the people for a year. The COVID hospital will only treat staff from the police and other frontline departments, ”said collector A. Md. Imtiaz, who attended the initiation program.

Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP Administration) Mallika Garg and ASP (SEB) Vakul Jindal said the police event hall was converted into a hospital in a short period of time as cases increased and many frontline workers became ill.

The minister praised Mr. Ravindranath Babu and other police officers for taking an initiative to set up the COVID hospital.

“It is unfortunate that so many frontline workers and their families are making rounds of the hospitals to get admission and beds. We will increase the capacity of the COVID hospital if necessary, ”said the SP, thanking the minister and the collector for the hospital’s approval.

The collector said three government doctors, 15 nurses and other staff will be on duty around the clock in the newly opened hospital.

Machilipatnam’s Revenue Divisional Officer (RDO) Khajavali said 25 beds in the hospital had been fitted with life support systems.

Additional SP (Armed Reserve) Satyanarayana, DSPs Ramesh Reddy, Azeez and Masoom Basha and MRO Sunil Kumar took part in the initiation program.
