At a time when hospitals are trying to ensure a steady supply of medical oxygen for COVID19 patients undergoing treatment in their premises, the oxygen systems of the KIMS Saveera Hospital have saved the day for their doctors.
The KIMS Saveera with 50 COVID-19 beds within the framework of the state hospitals of the Aarogyasri network, 16 beds in the intensive care unit (ICU), 16 beds with oxygen support and the other normal beds has an internal oxygen generation capacity of over 300 liters per minute the two systems installed on the site. It saved the hospital from the price and transportation blues of oxygen bulk carriers.

“In December 2016 we installed a small system with a capacity of 100 liters. The dire situation related to the Oxygendemand during the first wave of the pandemic last year prompted us to install another system that produces 200 liters of oxygen per minute. We also have a contract for semi-bulk bottles (canisters), which are equivalent to 50 regular bulk oxygen bottles (7.1 cumts) on standby, ”said Kishore Reddy, Managing Director of KIMS Saveera The Hindu.
This is one of the few such systems installed in either government or private hospitals in Andhra Pradesh, he claimed. “We installed these systems at a cost of £ 80 to anticipate the pricing or logistics problems the whole country is now facing,” said Reddy.
Monitoring consumption, multiple leakages, wastage and other issues is time consuming, said Bismillah, the technical person in charge of oxygenating nearly 200 patients in all types of beds on any given day.
“During the days without COVID, the two systems connected to a single network are enough to meet the hospital’s requirements, but canisters help care for more patients,” he explained.
