Ongole I city police opened an investigation after investigators from the Vigilance and Enforcement Wing found evidence of black marketing of vials of remdesivir that had been allocated to a private hospital here on Wednesday.
A team led by DSP T. Ashok Vardhan of Vigilance and Enforcement checked inventory at the hospital and found that 57 vials were missing that were allegedly black marketed by some hospital staff. The team found only 476 of the 533 vials of remdesivir assigned to the hospital. The city I police registered a case according to §§ 420, 188 IPC, § 18 (B) r / w 28 (A), 36 (C) of the Drugs and Cosmetics Act, § 53 of the Disaster Protection Act.
Prakasam SP Siddharth Kaushal has formed two special teams led by Ongole I Town Circle Inspector Sitaramaiah and Singarayakonda Circle Inspector Srinivasa Rao to investigate the case. “Strict measures are being taken against those who black market the injection.
