National President of the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) N. Chandrababu Naidu has expressed shock and sadness over the death of COVID patients due to a lack of timely oxygenation at Maharaja Hospital in Vizianagaram.
In a statement Monday, Mr Naidu said the state government’s inefficiency had come to the fore because of its inability to provide oxygen to patients struggling for their lives in state hospitals. The ministers remained silent spectators. The situation worsened in all 13 districts with lack of oxygen beds, he said.
The government did not provide accurate information on facilities for COVID patients in hospitals. The COVID dashboard showed that oxygen beds were free and many were available. But when patients were taken to the respective hospitals, they were not admitted, citing lack of oxygen, he said.
Officials should focus on providing beds, oxygen and remdesivir injections to keep the situation from getting out of hand. A new trust should be created among the people, he said.
