Many people in the district have complained that they have to wait four to five days to get the results after submitting their samples for the COVD test.
Over during a fact check The Hindu Due to complaints from people, it emerged that there was a shortage of digital input operators at GGH Out Patient’s COVID triage center in the city. The Government General Hospital in Anantapur operates a 24×7 sampling center, where 500 to 800 people submit their samples every day.
‘Residue’
Some people who had submitted their samples on April 15 (Thursday) came to the GGH on Tuesday and asked about the result because they had neither received an SMS accepting their sample nor the result. The data entry operators said there was only one person working per shift and that there was a backlog.
“I’m worried that I had planned a trip for Tuesday and did not receive my result or certificate two days after I submitted the sample,” said VK Rinas, who was supposed to be driving to Kerala for Ramzan. The government of Kerala insists on obtaining a COVID negative certificate to enter the state. At least half a dozen people argued with staff at the counter, demanding their test results.
When asked, the District Medical and Health Doctor Y. Kameswara Prasad said that all urban health centers in Anantapur and PHCs in rural areas collected COVID samples and entered data there themselves.
Hospital Superintendent KSS Venkateswara Rao said The Hindu that it had now assigned 15 data entry staff and cleared the entire backlog. It should be noted that the district has a capacity of 6,000 samples per day, but fewer than 4,000 samples were collected from across the district in the last 20 days of April. Fewer than 3,000 samples were collected in March.
