Telugu Nadu Upadhyaya Sangham (TNUS) leaders on Friday called on the government to declare school holidays indefinitely as the number of COVID-19 cases in the state has skyrocketed.
In a statement, the association’s president, M. Apparao, and its secretary, N. Venkat Rao, said classrooms filled with students have become risk areas. Social distancing was not possible when students of all grades attended school. Their exposure to a major threat on school grounds has caused panic among parents, they said, reiterating their call to close schools to avoid high risk of the spread of COVID-19.
