A five-member joint committee formed by the National Green Tribunal (NGT) on Thursday inspected the safety mechanism at a pharmaceutical unit owned by Tyche Industries Limited on the outskirts of Kakinada.
On March 11, two supervisors were killed on the spot and four workers on duty survived with injuries after a 3,000 kg reactor in the pharmaceutical unit was blown up. The NGT took note of the case on a suo motu Base later.
The committee chaired by MoEFCC scientist P. Suresh Babu and scientist T. Mahima of the Central Pollution Control Board (Chennai) inquired about the incident while interacting with company management.

Kinninada Revenue Divisional Officer AG Chinni Krishna, Environmental Engineer A. Ramarao Naidu, Environmental Engineer of the Andhra Pradesh (Kakinada) Environmental Protection Committee, are the other members of the committee.
The committee will present its report by April 30th.
