Andhra Pradesh is poised to have a large-scale vaccination campaign as part of Tika Utsav on Wednesday as the center received 6.4 lakh doses of Covishield and Covaxin.
Although the batch of 4.4 lakh Covishield vaccines was received late Monday and immediately distributed to districts, the small number of vaccine centers on the occasion of Ugadi meant that not many doses were given.
According to the Co-WIN dashboard, only 4,483 beneficiaries were given vaccines at 8 p.m. on Tuesday. In addition, two doses of lakh-covaxin were received on Tuesday morning.
With this, the state planned to run a vaccination campaign in a secretariat that would be under the jurisdiction of every rural and urban public health center in the state, aside from other state hospitals, PHCs, and private hospitals, according to officials from the Ministry of Health.
All beneficiaries over 45 would be encouraged to get vaccinated within the next two days.
