The police have expressed displeasure at the spate of allegations the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) has made against them for the slinging incident at the gathering during a public meeting of the party’s national president, N. Chandrababu Naidu, on Monday evening.
Clarification of the problem together with Chittoor Superintendent of Police Ch.Venkata Appala Naidu, Anantapur Range DIG Kanthi Rana Tata told the media here on Tuesday that the problem emerged when a TDP employee complained to Mr. Naidu about being hit by a stone to be followed by two other activists.
“We inspected the main vehicles and those in the convoy, scanned the CCTV material around the venue and also spoke to Mr. Naidu’s NSG security staff. We don’t have any concrete evidence of the incident yet, ”said Tata.
The DIG said “vague allegations” were made against the police agency, which was doing its best to ensure free and fair elections in the Tirupati Lok Sabha constituency.
Meanwhile, G. Narasimha Yadav, the TDP constituency and former chairman of the Tirupati Urban Development Agency (TUDA), filed a complaint with the Tirupati West Police, and the department sent him a notice asking him to provide evidence of the alleged attack on Mr Naidu.
