About 50 passengers, including some school children, had a miraculous escape when an Andhra Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (APSRTC) bus they were traveling in developed a technical problem near the Polavaram project in the West Godavari district on Saturday .
The bus spiraled out of control when the vehicle’s propeller shaft broke. The driver immediately drove the vehicle into the bushes to bring it to a stop, said Polavaram, deputy superintendent of Police K. Latha Kumari.
The bus was traveling some height when the incident occurred. If the driver hadn’t acted wisely and stopped, the bus would have overturned, said the passengers.
Ms. Kumari said the Jangareddygudem depot bus was traveling from Tekuru to Shivagiri when the incident occurred. The police rushed to the spot and moved the passengers to another bus, added the DSP.
