Union Interior Minister Ajay Kumar Bhalla discussed various issues related to the AP Reorganization Act of 2014 in a video conference with the General Secretaries of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana on Wednesday.
Mr Bhalla advised the secretaries-general to seek an amicable settlement of pending disputes and, on behalf of the central government, promised to expand all cooperation.
Topics discussed included the division of institutes and assets according to Annex IX, the allocation of superintendents of the police (non-cadres), additional SPs (civil) and DSPs, the distribution of liabilities and the determination of the states’ shares in the Singareni Collieries Company Limited, which makes tax provisions under Sections 50, 51 and 56 of APRA, relocates the Krishna River Management Board (KRMB) headquarters to AP and settles fees to AP-Genco.
Andhra Pradesh Chief Secretary Aditya Nath Das urged Mr. Bhalla to ensure that Schedule IX assets are distributed strictly in accordance with the recommendations of the Sheela Bhide Committee.
He also sought the help of the central government in reclaiming approximately 7,000 crore that the Telangana Discoms owed the AP-Genco for the cost of the power supply that was brought to them after the fork.
The special chief secretaries Rajat Bhargava (revenue) and G. Anantha Ramu (BC Welfare) and L. Premachandra Reddy, the chief secretaries SS Rawat (finance) and AR Anuradha (women’s and child development) and the secretary (energy) N. Srikant were present.
