Prime Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy has asked officials to provide drip and sprinkler systems to all small and small farmers within the allotted time.
Mr. Jagan Mohan Reddy said during a review meeting on horticulture, micro-irrigation and agricultural infrastructure on Tuesday the government is taking steps to dig wells for small and small farmers. Providing drip and micro-irrigation systems would help them get better yields, he said.
The work should be done on a saturation basis and every eligible person should benefit from the programs being implemented and there should be no scope for corruption, he said.
The Prime Minister also suggested officials give priority to farmers with less than 10 hectares of land in Rayalaseema and Prakasam and less than 5 hectares of land elsewhere in the provision of drip and sprinkler systems.
Sourcing micro irrigation systems through reverse bidding would help cut costs and help more farmers. He said the cost of drip and sprinkler systems would be finalized after taking into account central and state government subsidies, he said.
The Prime Minister instructed officials to focus on solving the problems faced by farmers who grow mulberries and on improving their situation.
He also reviewed the establishment of multi-purpose facility centers as part of Agri Infra, such as dry storage, drying platform, godowns, horticultural infrastructure, primary processing centers, collection centers, cold rooms for storage, custom setting centers, inspection equipment, Janata bazaars, procurement centers and e-marketing.
The Chief Minister directed the officials to promote organic and natural farming on the borders of each Rythu Bharosa Kendra.
The AP Deputy Agriculture Mission, MVS Nagi Reddy, Government Advisor (Agriculture) Ambati Krishna Reddy, Agriculture Special Envoy Poonam Malakondaiah, Finance Secretary Gulzar, Marketing Commissioner PS Pradyumna, Fisheries Commissioner K. Kannababu, Marketing Special Envoy Y. Madhusudan Reddy in charge of horticulture Commissioner SS Sridhar was present.
