The Excise Duty Department’s Special Enforcement Bureau on Monday confiscated 390 liters of illegal arrak in 3,900 bags that were smuggled out of Odisha and delivered to the Itchapuram Mandal village of Eedupuram, Srikakulam district.
SEB District Inspector J. Janardhana Rao and his team raided several houses and confiscated the illegal arrack. Mr Janardhana Rao said special teams have been formed to prevent the illegal shipment of arrack and alcohol from Odisha and other locations along the adjacent areas. He said cases would be filed against those involved in the illegal trade.
