Police Commissioner Manish Kumar Sinha said the city police will resume special drives to ensure that all commercial facilities are equipped with CCTV cameras.
During a press conference in the city on Thursday, Mr. Manish Kumar spoke to reporters about the police launching an action on February 14 asking commercial establishments to install surveillance cameras. However, the police were soon busy with the elections for the Panchayat and the ULB (Urban Local Body).
“It is very important to have CCTV cameras in all locations, businesses, shops and residential areas as they help prevent crime. CCTVs have played a vital role in exposing the theft of Karakachettu Polamamba, ”he said.
Mr. Manish Kumar added that the police would step up road safety drives as a number of traffic accidents occurred on city streets. People should always remember to wear helmets, the commissioner said, adding that pillion riders should also wear helmets. The police will take a tough stance on triple riding, he said.
