Telugu Desam Party (TDP) leader Alapati Rajendra Prasad said Wednesday the state government had diverted millions of rupees into payments under the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (MGNREGS).
“The state government has misused both the judiciary and the center to misuse and divert funds in excess of £ 6,400 crore under the NREGS program. The court ordered the payment of NREGS fees along with interest for fiscal years 2018-2019 and 2019-2020, but the state government is turning a blind eye, ”he claimed.
At a press conference on Wednesday, Rajendra Prasad accused the state government of politically vengeful stance even towards those who carried out MGNREGS work during the previous TDP regime.
“The center had released £ 6,400 million to make payments for NREGS work. The government, which diverted the funds for no reason, claims irregularities occurred during the previous administration’s tenure. It’s part of the YSRCP government’s subtle plan to default on payments, ”he said.
