Tricolor Designer Recalls – The Hindu

Students from different schools displayed a huge national tricolor on the streets of Ongole to demonstrate their patriotism as part of the centenary of the national flag designed by the freedom fighter Pingali Venkayya.

The tricolor was hoisted on a mammoth flag post erected here at the train station by the Ongole Unit of Junior Chambers International under the direction of its President Pawan Kumar and its Secretary L. Prasanna Kumar. On that day, the well-known freedom fighter from Andhra Pradesh handed the design over to Mahatma Gandhi in Vijayawada in 1921, which had undergone some changes before it was introduced as the country’s national flag.
