The much-anticipated domestic air cargo terminal opened on Friday at Rajamahendravaram Airport in East Godavari District.
The terminal is operated by the Airport Authority of India Cargo Logistics and Allied Services Company Limited (AAICLAS), a subsidiary of AAI.
The airport director of Rajamahendravaram, Manoj Kumar Nayak, inaugurated the terminal in the presence of all concerned and the officials of the AAICLAS, Visakhapatnam.
“The first shipment of the COVID-19 vaccine (Covaxin) arrived on Friday and the auto parts were shipped to Hyderabad. The cargo terminal facility will help stimulate economic activity in East and West Godavari districts, ”said Manoj Kumar Nayak.
Security check
In the meantime, the Bureau of Civil Aviation (BCAS) has given security clearance for the operation of the air freight terminal. IndiGo Airlines will handle cargo flights to various destinations from Rajamahendravaram Airport.
Abraham Lincon, responsible, AAICLAS, Visakhapatnam Branch, representatives from Indigo Airlines, Cargo Agents and other stakeholders were present on the occasion.
