Increase in the positivity rate in the Anantapur district

The positivity rate in Anantapur District, which was about 5% for the past 10 days, rose to 7.21% with 396 samples out of a total of 5,494 samples collected that tested positive on Saturday.

Kurnool District reported the lowest number of COVID-19 cases during the second wave since March 1, with just 127 cases in the past 24 hours. The county’s active case count now stands at 1,608, while the death toll stands at 804 after two people succumbed to the virus in the past 24 hours.

The cumulative deaths in Anantapur were 1,027, including three in the last 24 hours, but the number of active positive cases as of Sunday was just 1,372, of which 811 were hospitalized. There were 134 patients in intensive care units, 114 in oxygen-assisted beds, while the remaining 563 did not require oxygen.

On Sunday, 80,691 people were vaccinated in a single day, increasing the total number of vaccinations to 8,89,921 doses, with 6.91 lakh people taking the first dose and 1.98 lakh also taking the second dose.
