Four members of a family are said to have committed suicide here in the early hours of Wednesday by consuming poison in the village of Khadak Pura.
One Town Police said the deceased were identified as Pratap, 42, a television mechanic, his wife Hemalatha, 36, son Jayanth, 17, and daughter Rishitha, 13.
Police suspect that the victims may have consumed poison sometime after midnight. The incident came to light when Pratap’s brother, who was on the second floor of the same building, tried to contact her and there was no response.
“Family members called us and we went into the house to find all four dead,” said Kala Venkata Ramana police district inspector. The reason for the extreme step was not immediately known and the investigation was initiated.
